Beets have a lot more sugar (and less dietary fiber) comperad to a similar serving of broccoli, for example. If course beets may be better than other unhealthy alternatives though. Butternut squash doesn't have much fiber and does have some sugars so it's not ideal. In general your better vegetable bets are broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots.
