flyspell-mode is a minor mode performing on-the-fly spelling checking. This spawns a single Ispell process and checks each word. The default flyspell behavior is to highlight incorrect words.
Basic setup
(require 'flyspell)
(flyspell-mode +1)
Helpful keybindings
- [M-$] (or M-x ispell-word)
- correct a word using ispell
- M-x flyspell-auto-correct-word
- automatically corrects the current word
- M-x flyspell-auto-correct-previous-word
- automatically corrects the previous word
- M-x flyspell-correct-word
- display a popup with correct word suggestions
- M-x flyspell-region
- runs flyspell on the selected region
- M-x flyspell-buffer
- runs flyspell on the current buffer
